HVAC in Mount Pleasant, TN
Mount Pleasant has two housing stocks living side by side, and they break in different ways. In town there are homes from the phosphate boom years — houses built a century ago, added onto room by room, with ductwork that was squeezed in long after the walls went up. Around the edges, new subdivisions are going in. Duck River Heating & Air works both from our shop in Columbia, at 1230 Industrial Park Rd, Suite 104, Columbia, TN 38401. One base, one number, and the visit window is set on the call.

An old town that is growing again
Mount Pleasant's growth is not a rumour. Livability reported on 11 September 2025 that the Mount Pleasant Planning Commission had approved three new subdivisions that will bring 595 additional homes to the area. Those homes are approved and planned — they are not built or occupied yet — and the source does not name them, so neither do we. What it means for heating and air is simple: a town of older systems is about to add hundreds of new heat pumps, and both sides of that line call us.
Growth figure: Livability, 11 Sep 2025, on Mount Pleasant Planning Commission approvals — 595 additional homes across three approved subdivisions, unnamed in the source.Mount Pleasant houses, and what their systems do
| House | What is usually heating and cooling it | What we get called for |
|---|---|---|
| Phosphate-era homes in town | Gas or propane furnace with ducts added later, or window units in the rooms ducts never reached | Rooms that never heat or cool evenly, old furnaces on their last igniters, and "can this house take central air at all?" — start with heating repair or a duct look |
| Brick ranches from the growth years | Split systems with crawl space ductwork | Fallen or sweating flex duct, musty air from below, systems at replacement age — see crawl space & attic HVAC |
| County-edge homes off SR-243 and the US-43 corridor | Heat pumps with electric backup, some propane | January bill shock from AUX heat running for days, defrost faults — the checks are on the heat pumps page |
| New subdivision builds | Builder-grade heat pumps, charged and balanced fast at build time | First-year checks: charge, drain line, duct connections — booked as a tune-up before small misses turn into repairs |
The calls Mount Pleasant sends us most
- The room that was never on the system: a back room or upstairs added decades ago, fed by one undersized run or nothing at all. That is duct design work, or a mini-split where ducts honestly cannot go — we measure before we price either.
- Old furnace, cold snap: igniters, flame sensors, and blower motors on furnaces that have heated the same house for 20 years. Safety checks come first on any gas or propane call; the order of work is on the heating & furnace repair page.
- Heat pump running, house not keeping up: on the county edges this is usually a defrost fault or AUX heat carrying the house alone. Both are findable in one visit with readings, not guesses.
- Musty air from the vents: crawl space moisture working its way into the duct system. The fix order — dry the space, seal the ducts, then talk about air cleaners — is laid out on the air quality page.
How a Mount Pleasant visit works
You call the Columbia shop
One number for every town we serve: (931) 774-2042. Tell us the system type — gas, propane, heat pump — and what it is doing. For a no-heat or no-cooling call, the triage on the emergency page applies in Mount Pleasant the same as in Columbia.
We set the window on the call
No invented drive times and no fake promises: we tell you the real window for that day while you are on the phone, and we call if the day moves.
Readings first, price in writing
The tech tests before anyone talks money. You get the finding, the readings, and the price in writing before work starts — the same rule as every page on this site.
Repair and replacement priced side by side when age says so
On a system at the end of its run, both numbers go on the same paper, sized by load calculation — the method is on the system replacement page.
Mount Pleasant system acting up?
Tell us the house — old in-town place, ranch, or new build — and what the system is doing. We will set the window on the call and put the price in writing before any work starts.

Mount Pleasant FAQs
Are you based in Mount Pleasant, or do you come from somewhere else?
We are based in Columbia, at 1230 Industrial Park Rd, Suite 104, Columbia, TN 38401, and Mount Pleasant is one of our regular Maury County routes. The same shop, the same techs, and the same price-in-writing rule cover both towns — when you call, we set the visit window on the phone and tell you plainly how the day is running.
My Mount Pleasant house is over 100 years old and has no real ductwork. What are my options?
Houses from the phosphate years were built for stoves and window units, not central air, so the ductwork is often added later, undersized, or missing in whole rooms. The honest options are a proper duct design run the Manual D way, a ductless mini-split for the rooms ducts cannot reach, or a mix of both. We look at the house first and price the option that fits it — not the one that is easiest to sell.
I am buying in one of the new subdivisions. Should the system be checked in the first year?
Yes. Builder systems are charged and balanced fast at build time, and a first-year check — charge, drain line, duct connections — catches the small misses while the builder conversation is still open. It is the same first-year list we run in Spring Hill, and it costs a lot less than finding the miss in year three.
Do you work on propane furnaces and heat pumps in Mount Pleasant, or just gas?
All three. Older in-town homes run a mix of gas and propane furnaces, and a lot of the county-edge homes heat with heat pumps and electric backup. Tell us what is in the house when you call and the truck comes stocked for that system.
Mount Pleasant: one Columbia shop, one number, price in writing.
Furnace, heat pump, or a house that has never had central air — call the shop and describe the house. We will tell you straight what the visit looks like.
